Wilma Shaffer

Mrs. Wilma Mae Shaffer, 78, a resident of Horse Shoe Run, departed this life Wednesday morning, November 7, 2018 following a period of declining health. She was born May 1, 1940 in Aurora, WV a daughter of the late Delton and Gladys Snyder.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Everett Snyder and is survived by one sister, Norma Beckman.

On September 13, 1956 she married Robert F. Shaffer, who survives. They had celebrated 62 years of marriage. Also left to cherish Wilma's memory are two sons, Brad Shaffer and wife Terry of Eglon, WV and Larry Shaffer and wife Jennifer of Lady's Island, SC, five grandchildren, Michelle Berry and husband Donnell, Aurora, WV, Sharon Shaffer and companion Micheal, Bluffton, SC, Alicia Rumer and husband Phillip, Oakland, MD, Erica Anderson and husband Kirby, Winchester, VA, and Jordan Vance, Abilene, TX.

Wilma was also blessed with three great-grandsons Liam, Camden, and Beckett, and three great-granddaughters, Gabbi, Kinsley, and Aurora.

All that knew Wilma, knew her to be a devoted Christian wife and mother. She was very active in her church, teaching Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed watching and caring for hummingbirds, her many beautiful flowers, and her vegetable garden.

Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Saturday, November 10, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be held, 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 11 at Hinkle Funeral Chapel with Rev. Marty Wilt officiating. Interment will follow in Accident Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
