Wilma Lee (Ashby) Sanders, 80, of Oakland died on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born on March 5, 1935 in Elkins, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Minerva (Sisler) Ashby. She was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School and had worked many years as a cook for the OakMar, Starlight and Towne Restaurants, as well as the Garrett County Sheriff's Department. Wilma was a member of the Crellin United Brethren in Christ and had also attended the Freeport King James Bible Church. She will be remembered as a woman who loved to cook for her family, join in family gatherings and, having a big heart, she was a foster parent for several children. She is survived by five children, Judy (Sanders) Wiles and Peter Hough of Terra Alta, Russ Sanders and wife Deb of Terra Alta, Mike Sanders and wife Sue of Terra Alta, Brenda (Sanders) Casteel and husband Ralph of Corinth, and Regina (Sanders) Burns and husband James of Crellin; grandchildren, Kevin and Carol Wiles, Josh and Ashley Wiles, Jessica Wiles, Samantha Wiles, Erica Sanders and Bobby Cannon, Jason and Kristine Sanders, Tasha Sanders, Kristopher Sanders, Holly and Jason Sines, Bill and Trish Casteel, Justin, JD, Paige and Zach Casteel, Josh and Cassie Casteel, Lottie and Mark Rohrbaugh, Wyatt and Bethany Sanders, Samuel Burns and Jesse James Burns; great grandchildren, Austin and Dalton Wiles, Cierra Norwood, Jerrod Upole, Rhylinn Sanders, Hunter and Garret Sines, Sidney, Nathan and Bailey Casteel, Scotty, Emily and James Kalb and Matthew Rohrbaugh; a sister, Ruth Johnson of Cresaptown; a brother, Jack Ashby and wife Kathleen of Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Madeline James and Arlene Shaffer and three brothers, Carl, Earl and Eugene Ashby. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, April 10th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and on Saturday, April 11th from 10 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastors Gary Clem and Donald Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery, WV.
