William Walton

Dr. William W. Walton, Jr., 85, of Oakland died on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on April 27, 1929 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William Winfield, Sr. and Mable (Funk) Walton. He was an engineer for the Consumer Product Safety Commission for many years. Dr. Walton was also an avid skier who volunteered with the Blind Skiers Program at the Wisp Resort. He is survived by four sons, William Walton of Houston, TX, Robert Walton of Rehoboth Beach, DE Thomas Walton of Oakland and David Walton of Gaithersburg; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Patricia A. (Hammer) Walton. According to his wishes, Dr. Walton was cremated. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 in the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren, 9752 Oakland Sang Run Rd., Oakland from 10 to 11 AM at which time a memorial service will be held with Pastor Garry Clem officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Main St., Myersville, MD 21773. The Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
