William Leon Shreve Sr., 83, Oakland, died on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on April 26, 1933, in Gormania, WV, he was a son of the late Otis and Virginia A. (Miller) Shreve. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sonja A. (Smith) Shreve, and one brother, Alvin P. Shreve. Leon was retired from Buffalo Coal, where he had worked on the strip mine reclamation crew. Prior to working for the coal company, he was employed at Sterling Processing, Oakland. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and looking for ginseng. He is survived by five children, Renee Shreve, William Leon Shreve Jr. (and wife Patricia), Terry Shreve (and wife Gillian), and Tina Rodeheaver, all of Oakland, and Tonya MA�eller (and husband Hans), Fayetteville, N.C.; one brother, Norman O. Shreve (and wife Lesley), Wellington, Ohio; and eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Zachery, Antony, and Katie Shreve, Savannah Rodeheaver, Sean and Clare Buckle, and Joanne Buckle Martin. A funeral service will be held at the C&S Fredlock Funeral Home, Oakland, this Friday, Feb. 17, at noon. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
