William Sharpless

William Kenneth Sharpless Jr., 68, of West Newton, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Excela Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA. Born on July 14, 1954, in Oakland, MD, he was the son of William Kenneth Sharpless Sr. of Swanton, MD and the late Martha Louise (Varner) Sharpless.

William "Bill" worked at Super Dollar Food Market through his high school years in West Newton, PA. After high school, Bill worked his entire career at Charles Bluestone & Company, in Elizabeth, PA. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Sport Teams! He always took time to follow up with family, checking on them, especially the elderly. Bill loved being around family and enjoyed laughing and joking with all his friends and family. He loved listening to and watching the Gaither Homecoming events.

Along with his father, he is survived by a son, Bill Sharpless, of Pittsburgh, PA; siblings, Dan Sharpless and wife Kim of West Newton, PA, and John Sharpless and wife Stefanie of Mullica Hill, NJ; nieces and nephews, Renee Rumbaugh and husband David, Mark Cecil and wife Jade, John Sharpless, Kilee Klamorick and husband Kevin, and Ashlyn Sharpless; and several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Louise (Sharpless) Cecil.

The Going Home Service is private with Pastor David Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Sharpless Cemetery, Mt. Zion Road, Swanton, Maryland.
