William Kitzmiller

September 19, 1929 — June 11, 2015

William "Harold" Kitzmiller, 85, of Rawlings and formerly of Elk Garden, WV died on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland. Born on September 19, 1929 in Sulphur, WV, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Tina Pearl Kitzmiller. He was retired from the railroad having worked for Western Maryland Railroad and CSX. After his retirement, he managed Hawk's General Store in Elk Garden during the winter months. He attended the Dawson United Methodist Church in Rawlings and was a charter member of the Elk Garden Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed attending the Dawson UMC Coffee House and the Keyser Senior Center. In addition to spending time with his family, Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, building jigsaw puzzles and was a lucky bingo player. He was considered by many as a big kid at heart. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Rebecca (Knieriem) Kitzmiller; two daughters, Catherine Kesner of Fort Ashby, WV and Joan Harvey and husband Charles of Deer Park; four grandchildren, Leah Lechliter and husband Matthew of Aldie, VA, Andrew Kesner and wife Holly of Cumberland, Brison Harvey and wife Hannah of Lexington, KY and Sara Harvey of Morgantown, WV; four great grandchildren, Owen, Wyatt and Evan Lechliter and Harrison Kesner; a sister in law, Beverly Cardaro and husband Charles of Newport News, VA; a brother in law, Ronald Waybright of Greeneville, TN; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle (Waybright) Kitzmiller, in 1992 and a sister, Vivian Owens. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Sunday, June 14th from 2 to 6 PM and on Monday, June 15th from 10 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Patrick Buhrman officiating. Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery, Elk Garden. Memorial donations may be made to the Dawson United Methodist Church, 22515 McMullen Hwy. SW, Rawlings, MD 21557.
