William Kitzmiller

William Elmer Kitzmiller, 73, of Bayard, passed away on December 5, 2023, in his home. Born on June 6, 1950, in Mount Storm, he was the son of the late Orville Kitzmiller and Audra (Hanlin) Kitzmiller.

William pursued a career as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Madison Mechanical. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and driving his 1961 Chevrolet Impala and John Deere gator. William loved spending time with and helping friends and family. He also enjoyed showing, sharing, and telling stories about his Coke collection. In the spring, he enjoyed taking his dog for rides to the post office. William was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

William is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothy (Dumire) Kitzmiller; three children, Jeff Kitzmiller and wife Amy of Xenia, OH, Jennifer Hardesty and husband Gary of Fairmont, WV, and Jill Choate and husband Tyler of St. George, WV; eight grandchildren, Chelsea and husband Dylin, Katie, Taylor, Emma, Jessica and husband Frank, Jena, Chris and wife Jess, and Janie; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Liberty; siblings, Delorse Kuhn of Mt. Storm, WV, Diane Knotts and husband Paul of Mt. Storm, WV, and Jeanie Funk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George Kitzmiller and Jim Kitzmiller and wife Juanita; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Kuhn.

Friends will be received on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, 567 Thomas Ave, Davis. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM with Pastor Sam Moon officiating. Interment will follow in the Kitzmiller Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Jim and Shirley Bailey WVU Cancer Center, 311 N 4th St, Oakland, MD 21550.
