William Harold Brantner, Sr., 81, of Mt. Lake Park and formerly of Kitzmiller, died on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Dennett Road Manor. Born on May 3, 1933 in Elk Garden, WV, he was the son of the late Ira Nevitt and Ethel Pearl (Allender) Brantner. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean War, a retired Kitzmiller Volunteer Fireman and a member of the Oakland American Legion Post #71. Bill was a painter by trade and, in later years, worked for the Child Development Program in Oakland. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, but mostly enjoyed the time he spent with his family and grandchildren camping on the river banks in Romney, WV. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vivian Leona (Stonebraker) Brantner; one daughter, Sandra Brantner and fiancAC. Jim Stewart of Oakland; two sons, William Brantner, Jr., and wife Kristi of Friendsville and Michael Brantner and fiancAC. Randi Harsh of Mt. Lake Park with whom he resided; four grandchildren, Kerri Brantner, William Brantner, Ian Brantner and Ainsley Brantner; one great-granddaughter, Kendall Holliday; a step granddaughters, Emma and Kaitlyn Harsh; one brother, Lester Brantner and wife Leona of Rockville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven sister, seven brothers and one grandson. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 4 to 7 PM at which time a funeral service will be held. Cremation will follow services with a graveside memorial in Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden to be held at a later date.
