We announce the passing of Willa Wilhelm Uphold on June 16, 2010, loving wife of Theodore Uphold devoted mother of Donley Uphold, Christine Uphold Tasker, Patricia Uphold Tasker, Cynthia Uphold Upole and Theodore Uphold Jr.
Willa was an active member of the Gorman Oak Church. Where for 12 years she served in various roles as organist, Sunday school teacher, and treasurer. She was also well known to many in her community as a representative of Avon.
Her beautiful paintings, heartfelt poems and the annual floral display of her well-tended gardens were loved and admired by all. She received much joy from sharing these activities.
Throughout her 3 year battle with cancer she remained steadfast in her faith and was comforted knowing her journey would take her to her Lord Jesus Christ in whom she now enjoys the peace that passeth all understanding. Phillippians 4:7.
One of her heartfelt poems:
"Almost Time"
It's almost time for Jesus to come again,
I can see it all around, the signs has all began
The Lord has told us all to hold on tight
And for our way to heaven, the devil we'd have to fight
My life was well worth the due's I had to go through
The trails, the suffering, the victories, I won too.
To see the face of my savior when I reach my goal,
And know I've reached the end of the journey for my soul.
Jesus promised to return as he went,
If only we turn to Jesus and truly repent.
We'll ascend into heaven with the one blind of an eye,
And live forever in glory, and never ever die.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, 21 N. 2nd Street, Oakland on Friday June 18, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 19, at 11 AM at the Sand Spring Church, Friendsville with the Rev. Theodore Uphold officiating. Internment will follow in Sand Spring Church Cemetery.
