Wilda Juanita Sanders, 89, of Oakland died on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at her residence. Born on June 13, 1924 in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Harry Oscar and Daisy (White) Durst. She was a life member and past commander of the Mt. Top Chapter 29 Disabled American Vets, a member of the Youghiogheny Glade Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and St. John's Lutheran Church. Wilda was a former Cub Scout, Boy Scout and 4-H Leader and was also recognized for 30 years of volunteering at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. She was a 1931 graduate of Oakland High School. She is survived by her son, Rev. Gerald Sanders and wife Shirley of Lower Burrell, PA; a grandson, Joel Sanders; sister-in-law, Georgie Durst and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Sanders; a sister, Annie Barr; and two brothers, Roy Durst and Floyd Durst. Friends will be received on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. 2nd St., Oakland. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6 at 10 AM in St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Regina Beard officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
