Wilda Helmick

Wilda Mae (Brown) Helmick, 83, formerly of Gormania, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Dennett Road Manor. Born on July 5, 1935 in Swanton, she is the daughter of the late Walter and Emily (Secrist) Brown. Wilda attended Elk Garden School. She was a member of the Bayard Church of God and participated in Ladies Aid. Wilda was an avid teapot collector with over 1,100 teapots in her collection. She loving seeking out treasures at yard sales and flea markets. Wilda was a “Mom” to all. She cooked and made sure everyone was always fed. In her later years, she enjoyed watching the Game Show Network.

Wilda is survived by two sons, Bruce E. Helmick and wife Debbie of Hanover, PA and Joey Helmick and friend Ruth Ann DeWitt of Oakland; three grandchildren, Courtney Helmick, Troy Stanley and Trevor Stanley; three great grandchildren, Adrian, Jonas and Ella; and siblings, Wave Curry and husband Butch, Goldie Davis, Charlotte Holtschneider, Wanda Kisamore, Fred Watring and Rosemary Mayne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Bruce M. Helmick, in February 2015 and a brother, John Brown.

Friends will be received at the Bayard Church of God on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 10-11 AM at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Phillip Marcum officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the Bayard Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland.
