Wesley Gordon Paugh, Jr., 84, of Oakland died from a long illness on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital. Born on June 15, 1930 in Vindex, he was the son of the late Wesley Gordon, Sr. and Pauline (Davis) Paugh. He was a retired coal miner from Island Creek Coal, Alpine, Consolidated Coal, District 31. He was an avid gardener, hunter and driving instructor for his daughters and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Martha (Miller) Paugh; children, Billie Jo Baker and husband David of Oakland, Tammy Gomer of Frostburg, Lori Ann Layman and husband Russell of Front Royal, VA and Julie P. Paugh and Mark Sweitzer of Oakland; two boys he raised as his own, Coy Miller and fiancAC.e Chassity Ringer of Oakland and Guy Miller of Oakland; grandchildren, Brianna Everidge of Oakland, Anthony Gomer and Daniel Gomer of Frostburg, Hunter Layman of Front Royal, VA, Remington Sweitzer and Madison Sweitzer of Oakland, David Baker and fiancAC.e Priscilla of Johnstown, PA, and Michelle Baker of Oakland; great grandchildren, Trenton Stonesifer, Hayden Stonesifer, Lucas Sweitzer and Skylar, Carolyn and Jaxson Baker; a brother, Charles Paugh of Kitzmiller; two sisters, Norma Jean Whitaker and husband James of Kitzmiller and Betty Upole of Deer Park; two great nephews, Jaydason and Jackson Miller; many special nieces and nephews and a special dog, "Pooch". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Michaels, Alberta Sweitzer, Dessie Tasker and Bessie Bowers; sister in law, Ruth Paugh; and brother in laws, Harvey Sweitzer, Daniel Upole, "Bucky" Takser and "Boone" Bowers. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Wednesday, September 24th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, September 25th at 12 Noon with Rev. James A. Tedeschi officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
