Wanitta M. Waybright, 100, of Elk Garden, WV, died on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Dawn View Care Center in Fort Ashby, WV. Born on April 4, 1921, in Kitzmiller, she was the daughter of the late Derfy Knotts and Lena Pearl (Sharpless) Pugh.
During WWII, Wanitta was a "Rosie the Riveter" who served her country producing materials to help the cause. She loved the outdoors, especially spending time in her garden.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Waybright of Elk Garden and Donald Waybright of Hagerstown; a grandson, Jason Waybright; a granddaughter, Katharine Waybright; a great granddaughter, McKenzie Waybright; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edsel A. Waybright, in 1978; three sisters, Vivian Dawson, Yvonne David and Donetta Beall; and a brother, Kenneth Knotts.
Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 10 AM to 12 PM. A funeral service will be held at 12 PM with Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating. Interrment will follow in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden, WV.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org.
