Wanda Zimmerman

Wanda Anna (Mellinger) Zimmerman, of Oakland, went home to be with her Lord & Savior on January 17, 2019. She was a resident of Dennett Road Manor.

Wanda was born on July 14, 1932, in Swanton, MD and was the daughter of the late Harvey Leroy Mellinger and Carrie Ethel (Reckner) Mellinger. She was 86 years of age.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, L. Edward “Eddie” Zimmerman, whom she married on November 20, 1949.

Surviving are three sons, David & wife, Kathy, of Oakland; Roger & wife, Patty, of Keyser, WV and Tracy & wife, Amy, of Vandalia, IL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Amy Flanigan of Oakland; Ginger Zimmerman of Vandalia, IL; Roger Zimmerman, JR & wife, JoLia, of Keyser, WV; Megan, Mitchell, Marcus & Macy Zimmerman of Vandalia, IL. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, D.J. & Brooklynn Flanigan of Oakland, MD; Josiah & Ella Zimmerman of Keyser, WV. Wanda is also survived by a son at heart, Eugene Friend & wife, Heather, and family of North Carolina.

In addition to her husband & parents, Wanda was preceded in death by one brother, Dwight Mellinger and three sisters; Doris Mellinger, Wilda (Mellinger) Fazzalore and Pauline (Reckner) King.

Family and friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, January 25, 2019, from 3 to 7 PM and also on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the Apostolics of Oakland, 600 Spruce Street, Mtn. Lake Park from 10 to 11 AM. Wanda’s Homegoing Celebration will follow at 11 AM on Saturday, January 26, 2019, in the Apostolics of Oakland. Interment will follow in the Garrett Memorial Gardens..
