W. Sue Liller, 65, a beloved member of the Oakland community, passed away on August 12, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Oakland on February 10, 1958. Sue was known for her kind heart and warm spirit, always bringing joy to those around her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Sue graduated from Northern High School and went on to attend Frostburg State University. She had a passion for education and shared her knowledge with students as a teacher at Crellin Elementary. In addition to her teaching career, Sue also worked as a real estate agent with Railey Realty, helping others find their dream homes.
A devoted member of Crossroads Church, Sue found solace and fulfillment in her faith. The church was not just a place of worship for her; it was a community where she found support and love.
Sue had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. Exploring new places and experiencing different cultures brought her endless joy. However, what brought the most happiness to Sue's life was spending time with her beloved grandchildren, Keegan, Reagan, Ava, and Noah, were the lights of her life, and she cherished every moment she spent with them.
Sue is survived by her mother, Norma Uphold; her loving husband of 45 years, Kevin Liller; their children, Justin Liller and wife Kristen, Ashley Fadley and husband Adam; as well as her sisters, Linda Severe and husband Steve of Oakland, Nancy Proulx of Oakland, Geni Ainsworth and husband R.J. of Crystal Beach, TX; brother, Jim Uphold of Friendsville; and twin sister from different parents, Dawn Panther and husband Ed of Oakland.
Sue's father, Eugene Uphold, preceded her in death but his memory lives on along with all the treasured moments they shared.
The community will come together to celebrate the life of Sue Liller at Crossroads Church, located at 17781 Garrett Highway in Oakland, MD. The first viewing will take place on August 14, 2023, starting at 4:00 PM and concluding at 8:00 PM. The second viewing will be held the following day on August 15, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will immediately follow the second viewing at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Marsh officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
Sue Liller had an impact on countless lives through her dedication to education, her kindness, and her unwavering love for her family. Her memory will forever be cherished, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace knowing that her legacy of love and compassion lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
