W. Eileen (Layman) Damon, 78, of Oakland died on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Olney, MD. Born on September 7, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Clifford and Clara Marie (Hanft) Layman. Eileen had worked for the Marriott Corporation for thirty-four years in accounts payable and had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and a volunteer for the Democratic Party. She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Frank N. Damon; two children, Terri Bauer and husband Jeff of Olney and Douglas Damon and wife Vivien of Germantown; five grandchildren, Christopher Damon, Stephanie Swope, Brad Bauer, Spencer Bauer and Shane Bauer; two sisters, Nancy Cleary and Helen Zeller; and two brothers, Jack Layman and Reed Layman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Layman. Friends will be received on Monday, May 28th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland where a funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, May 29th with Rev. Matthew Paugh officiating. Interment will follow in Garrett County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Johns Hopkins Children's Center, 100 N Charles St, Suite 200, Baltimore, MD 21201.
