Virgil Wolford, 96, of Dryfork, West Virginia passed away March 21, 2020 at Garrett Regional Medical Center. He was born February 21, 1924 in Dryfork, West Virginia, a son of the late Robert and Florence Wolford.
He is survived by four children, Cathy Rummel and husband Larry, Belington, West Virginia, Shirley Wolfe and husband Jim , Nutter Fort, West Virginia, Ron Wolford and wife Brenda, Dryfork, West Virginia, and Don Wolford and wife Tammy, Dryfork, West Virginia, six grandchildren, Nicole Painter, Steven (Stacy) Wolford, David Wolford, Michael Wolfe, Jenna Wolfe, and Travis (Sarah) Rummel, nine great-grandchildren, Jacob and Camryn Painter, Dakota and Reilly Wolford, Elijah and Logan Wolfe, Olivia Rummel, Margaret Rummel, and Grant Rummel, and two great-great-grandchildren, Calla and Laya Brown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Twila Simmons Wolford, whom was the love of his life. They were married in Red House, Maryland on November 15, 1946. They had celebrated 70 years of marriage. Also preceding him in death one son, Terry Wolford, three brothers, Harry, Tom, and Gordon Wolford, and four sisters, Elsie Bryant, Ella Wolford, Daisy Vandeventer, and Lois Paxton
Mr. Wolford was a graduate of Davis High School. He worked as an auto mechanic for Meyer Motor Sales from 1946-1973 and in 1973 he began teaching auto repair at the Rubenstein Center where he retired in 1995. After retirement, he was very active in his community and delivered meals for several years for the Harman Senior Center. He was a past president of Flanagan Hill Development Corporation and served on the board of directors for Tucker County Senior Citizens. He was a member of the Harman Church of the Brethren. He was a 65-year member and past treasurer of the Davis IOOF Lodge 103. He loved spending time with his family and friends, attending Flanagan Hill Outpost, and frequent visits to Allegheny Restaurant.

Due to the recent Covid-19 virus, there will be private services held for the immediate family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for all to attend and celebrate Virgil’s life.
