Vernie Knox

Vernie "Jane" Knox, 72, of Oakland, passed away on October 11, 2024, at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on July 13, 1952, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Conneway and Virginia Smith Nethken.

Vernie, or better known as Jane, was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards and the challenge of crossword puzzles. She had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Sparky.

She is survived by her husband, James Knox, to whom she was married on August 29, 1992; two nieces, Bridget Shreve and husband Chris and Ginger Lockmiller and husband Rob; a special great niece, Diana "Deenie" Shreve, a great niece, Emily Lockmiller; and a great nephew, Edward Lockmiller.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sheila Stemple.

There are no services scheduled at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
