Velma Ruble

Velma Levonna (Junkins) Ruble, 86 of Elk Garden, WV, peacefully passed away at her residence, on Sunday, September 12, 2010.
Born October 12, 1923 in Sulphur City, WV, she was the daughter of the late William T. & Henrietta (Oates) Junkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Estel (Pidge) Alston Ruble, Sr., sons John and Estel Ruble, Jr.
Velma was a graduate of Elk Garden High School Class of 1942. She was chairman of the Elk Garden High School Alumni Reunion until she was forced to stop due to her illness,. She enjoyed membership in the Elk Garden United Methodist Church and the W.S.C.S. of Elk Garden, WV. She was a homemaker who had huge Sunday dinners for family and friends. As a past time, Velma enjoyed singing along with her husband or any family member who happened to pop in. Her favorite past time was debating with "Pidge" and her sense of humor was enjoyed by all.
Surviving are: two daughters Millie Hester and husband Francis, Baltimore, MD and Edith (Edie) Paugh and husband Kenneth, Swanton, MD, one sister, Carrie Watkins of Nella's Nursing home in Elkins, WV.Twelve Grandchildren:Anthony Hester, Laura Hester Teal, Michael Hester, Justin Kelly, Joyce and John Ruble, Jason, Kevin, Jamie Didawick, Amanda, Brandon, Joshua, Jessica Ruble.Nine great grandchildren:Ashley Hester,Jason Jr., Preston, Blake, Lucas, Nathaniel, Alston Didawick, Logan & Brayden Stonebaker, Joshua &, Hayleigh Bircher.Two great-great grandchildren:Michael & Gauge Krueger and several nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, 710 Church Street, Kitzmiller, MD on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Elk Garden United Methodist Church on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 2 p.m.. with the Rev. Ross Glotfelty officiating. Interment will follow at the IOOF Cemetery, Elk Garden, WV.
