Velma "G.G." Elizabeth Cooper, 90, of Harman, West Virginia passed away October 7, 2018 surrounded by her family at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, West Virginia. She was born April 27, 1928 in Harman, West Virginia a daughter of the late Frank Lee and Phoeba Alice Sites Wymer. She was preceded in death by husband, Arthur Gail "Merk" Cooper on October 16, 1980. She was also preceded in death by six sisters, Doris Janda, Leona Harman, Josephine White, Gae Cooper, Jessie Cooper White, Mary Ruth Cooper, one brother, Frank "Buzz" Wymer, and one grandson, Brandon Heavner.
She is survived by five daughters, Beverly (Robert) Eye, Norma (Harold) Thompson, Jennifer (J.D.) Dodd, Rhonda Cooper and companion Herman Armentrout, Sherry Cooper, all of Harman, West Virginia, one son, Mitchell Cooper, Harman, West Virginia, two granddaughters, Tisha (Robbie) Mallow, Harman, West Virginia, Leslie (Jeffrey) Bonner, Dryfork, West Virginia, one grandson, Zeb Dodd and companion Jessica Bryan, three great-granddaughters, Jessie Heavner, Adalea Bonner, and Maryjane Elizabeth Dodd, six great-grandsons, Sevren Heavner, Cade Mallow, Trevan Bonner, Braylon Heavner, Zaden Dodd, Ty Bonner, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cooper worked at the Stockmans Bank of Harman. She was a member of the Brethren Church of Harman and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #5781. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her great-grandchildren. She loved cooking and baking. She was a wonderful matriarch to her family.
Friends will be received Wednesday, October 10, from 5-8 PM at Harman Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 11 at Harman Presbyterian Church with Rev. Grey Hinkle officiating. Interment will follow in the Cooper Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com
