Velda R. Hanlin, 58, of Kitzmiller went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at the Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on January 28, 1959 in Oakland, she was the daughter of Frances "Bernadine" (Paugh) Evans of Kitzmiller and the late James Edgil Evans. Before all else, Velda loved God and had attended the Kitzmiller Assembly of God when she was well. She enjoyed genealogy research, crafting, and making afghans. She loved to read cookbooks and was an avid collector of them. In addition to her mother, Velda is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 37 years, Dale H. "Chief" Hanlin; three sisters, Marti Keener and husband Robert of Kitzmiller, Barb Moore and husband Bob of Kitzmiller and Mary Haught and husband Kenny of Keyser, WV; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; special cousins and best friends, Donna and Bud Sisler; and "adopted daughter" Kate Walker and husband Mike Smilley. Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Friday, April 28th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Kitzmiller Assembly of God on Saturday, April 29th at 11 AM with Rev. Lee Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kitzmiller Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 438, Kitzmiller, MD 21538.
