Troy Long, 81, of Dryfork, WV, passed away March 7, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 20, 1940, in Dryfork, WV, the son of late Lenza and Flarnia Lenora Long.
Troy was a carpenter by trade. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Jointers of America for 25 years. He was skilled as a mechanic, wood-worker and in upholstery work. He enjoyed camping, hiking, and berry picking. He loved spending time sitting on his front porch, looking at the mountains.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Ann Long, whom he married on January 7, 1961. Also surviving are one son, Michael Long and wife Pam; two daughters, Lois Ann Brown and husband Aaron, Mary Pederson and husband Ted;six grandchildren, Melissa Davis, Chase Phelps, Sara Davis, Michelle Long, John Davis, Teddy Pederson; three great-grandchildren, Zoie Davis, Meredith Phelps, Olivia Phelps; two brothers, Marvin Long and Lowell Long; two sisters, Virginia Wiley and Anna Louis Allman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Luther Long and Chester Long and one granddaughter, Amanda Long.
Friends will be received Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 5 to 8 pm at Riverside God’s House of Prayer (formerly known as Riverside Mennonite Church). A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, March 11, 2022, at the church with Pastor Jerry Sebastian officiating. Interment will follow in the Long Family Cemetery. The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Long family at this time.
