Troxell Vernon Keplinger, 65, of Elk Garden, WV died on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at his home. Born on July 13, 1949 in Elk Garden, he was the son of the late Paul Howard, Sr. and Josephine Marion (Sheetz) Keplinger. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. As a heavy equipment operator, he had worked for several local coal mining companies and later worked in the sign shop of the West Virginia Division of Highways. He was a member of the Elk Garden United Methodist Church and had enjoyed spending time his family. He is survived by a sister, Karen Harvey and husband Gordon and two brothers, David Keplinger and wife Lena and Clifford "Gene" Keplinger and wife Laurie, all of Elk Garden; also, twenty-two nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and great nephews, and three step-children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Shirley Wolf; three sisters, Lois McCloud, Ruth Ann Paugh and Essie Pennington; two brothers, Paul, Jr. and Robert Keplinger; a nephew, Paul McCloud; and an infant niece, Darlene Pennington. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Thursday, September 18th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Elk Garden United Methodist Church on Friday, September 19th at 2 PM with Pastors Matthew Paugh and Shirley Reed officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the IOOF Cemetery, Elk Garden.
