Timothy Alan Gnegy, 55, of Oakland died on Monday, August 29, 2016, at his home. Born on March 2, 1961 in Oakland, he was the son of the late Harold Elroy and Jessie Marie (Wotring) Gnegy. Tim had previously worked as a security guard for Bausch & Lomb and, more recently, had been employed as a corrections officer for the Garrett County Sheriff's Department. He was a long-time member of the Oak Park Church of the Brethren, a former member of both the Oakland and Deer Park Volunteer Fire Departments, a member of the Oakland Elks Lodge #2481 and the local Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed camping, WVU and Steelers football, and, most especially, time spent with his grandkids and family chicken barbeques. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan K. (Tasker) Gnegy, with whom he had spent the past 27 years; two children, Christopher Gnegy and wife Moriah of Mannington, WV and Crystal Jenkins and husband Joshua of Statesville, NC; grandchildren, Ayden Gnegy, Carter Gnegy, Bella Jenkins and Matthew Jenkins; a sister, Kathy DeBerry and husband Gary; four brothers, Harold Gnegy, Jr. and wife Dot, Robert Gnegy, Larry Gnegy and wife Jerry and Ron Gnegy and wife Lori; nieces and nephews, Jimmy Gnegy, Valerie Dilley, Kevin Gnegy, Danielle Friend, Jamie DeBerry and Alan Gnegy; and a number of great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father in law, William Tasker, sister in law, Marjorie Gnegy and a niece, Lisa Gnegy. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Wednesday, August 31st from 5 to 8 PM and at the Oak Park Church of the Brethren, 110 Church Lane, Oakland on Thursday, September 1st from 12 to 1 PM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Carl Fike officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.
