Tadeus Holipski

Tadeus (Tad) L. Holipski passed on October 16, 2017 at his residence in Canaan Valley. He was born November 29, 1938 the son of the late Leon and Frances Holipski, Reedsville WV. He attended Reedsville High School and West Virginia University. Tad served in the United States Army for two years. Upon his return to West Virginia he was appointed as an FDIC WV State Bank Examiner. In 1971 he was named vice president of Community Bank of Clarksburg, WV. On November 15, 1976 he was named president of the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Ritchie County, Cairo WV. It was noted that under his leadership the bank experienced substantial growth and outstanding earnings. He was responsible for transitioning the bank from paper/pencil recordings to a fully computerized system.
Tad retired in 1980 and spent his time traveling the United States hunting, fishing, and golfing. He returned to banking in 1987 as president of the National Bank of Davis, Davis WV. Tad played a vital role in the development and design of the Canaan Valley Branch Bank and the National Bank of Davis. He retired again in 2005, spending the winter months in Summerfield, FL.
Tad was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed many, many hours of hunting and fishing with his beloved son and grandsons. Tad was also a competitive golfer. His love of gardening and cooking went hand in hand. No one ever left his house hungry. Tad will be remembered for his infamous cabbage rolls and garden stew. He was a loyal fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers, and the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers.
Tad is survived by his wife, Pamela Frye Holipski; two children and spouses: Dr. Joe Michael and Nicole Folio, Bridgeport WV, Mr. David Tad and Jennifer Holipski, Clarksburg WV; two stepchildren and spouses: Mr. Bobby and Sara Layne, Barboursville, WV; Mr. Benjamin and Megan Wilks, Crosslands WV; grandchildren: Francesca, Joe Michael, and Antonia Folio, Mr. Triston Tad and Autumn Holipski, Tanner and Taylor Holipski; step-granchildren: Peyton, Caleb, Noah, and Audrey; great-grandson: Brody Tad Holipski. Three sisters: Jessie Hunt, Greensboro NC, Marie Sansone, Morgantown WV, Mary Ann and John Tomits, Green OH, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by several lifetime friends who shared in the ups and downs of his adventurous life.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Jennie Trompak, John Holipski, Victoria Rockis, Frank Holipski, Kazmier Holipski, and Leonard Holipski.
Tad donated his body for educational purposes to West Virginia University. A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Thomas, WV at 11am on Saturday, October 21, 2017 followed by a memorial luncheon at 12:30pm at Black Bear Resort, Cortland Road, Davis, WV.
