Susie Beachy

Susie N. Beachy, 86, of Oakland, MD, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at her home. Born on April 23, 1938, in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Noah C. and Katie (Lapp) Zook. Susie was a member of the Gortner Amish Church. She enjoyed various crafts, quilting, gardening, and especially flowers. She spent time enjoying sunsets and bird watching. She loved each one of her children and grandchildren as if they were the only one. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Peter E. Beachy; her children, Lloyd Beachy and wife Esther (Bender) of Mountain Rest, SC, Viola Schrock and husband Evan of Oakland, Rachel, widow of Paul Bender of Bedford, PA, Raymond Beachy and wife Cora (Bender) of Oakland, and Peter Jr. Beachy and wife Melody (Sommers) of Salisbury, PA; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Malinda (Zook) Yoder of Oakland; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Anna, and one son in law, Paul Bender. Friends will be received at the Gortner Amish Church on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 10 AM with Bishop Alvin Beachy officiating. Interment will follow in the Gortner Amish Church Cemetery. The family would like to express their appreciation to all who visited, shared food, provided health care, and gave encouragement to Susie during the last year of her journey.
