Steven Johnson

Steven Theodore Johnson, age 68, of Oakland, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Garrett Regional Medical Center.

Born on December 27, 1952 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Stanley T. and Astrid (Jensen) Johnson.  Steven married his soul mate, Cheryl L. (Simmons) Johnson on May 8, 2005.   The two were best friends during high school and as fate would have it, reconnected 30 years later to eventually become husband and wife.  Steven was a graduate of Upper St. Clair High School, Class of 1972.  He held various purchasing and sales jobs in the steel and abrasive industries.  The last 15 years of his career were spent operating his own business.  Steven loved making history come alive and following the trail of antiques.  He fondly remembered his childhood summers spent with his family on Deep Creek Lake. His love for the water continued his whole life. He and Cheryl continued their fairytale relationship by retiring on his beloved Deep Creek Lake. Steve was a good man, full of life and joy who loved his family deeply. He could make friends with anyone and was always young at heart.

Steven is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Cheryl L. (Simmons) Johnson; a son, Andrew Johnson; three daughters, Heather Bargender-Wavra and husband Mike, Erin Stipetich and husband Steve, Sara Heisler and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Travis Bargender, Chase Bargender, Mia Stipetich, Hudson Heisler, Crosby Heisler; his sisters, Beth Cumming and husband James, Lisa Sesto and husband Mike; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by a brother, Bradley.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St.,Oakland on Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, at 2:00 PM a memorial service will be held with Pastor Ray Beahm officiating.
