Stanley Frank Tichinel, 84, of Swanton died on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Goodwill Mennonite Home in Grantsville. Born on January 20, 1930 in Oakland, he was the son of the late John and Percy (Paugh) Tichinel. He was a steel worker who retired from LTV Steel after 33 years of service. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean War and was later a member of the American Legion in Westernport and the Deer Park VFW Post 10077 where he had served Jr. Vice Commander and was a life member. He was also a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where he had served as a Deacon. Mr. Tichinel was a member of the Deer Park Sportsmen's Club and was a Maryland State Hunter's Safety Instructor. He was known as an outdoor man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and helping others. He is survived by his children, John Tichinel of Swanton and Daniel Tichinel and wife Amy of Apollo, PA; grandchildren, Nicole E., Joshua S., Emily and Austin Tichinel; a sister, Pauline Lambka of Elk Garden; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Josephine (Wilt) Tichinel, in 2004; a daughter, Cynthia Tichinel in 1968; brothers, Earl, Kenneth, Calvin, George and Grover; and sisters, Marie Brown, Gladys Brown, Bessie Paugh and Bonnie Tichinel. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A. 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Tuesday, September 23rd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Walnut Bottom Assembly of God a 12 Noon with Pastor George H. Tichinel officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Turner Cemetery, Swanton.
