Sonja Arlene (Smith) Shreve, 74, of Oakland died on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born on June 25, 1937 in Cary, KY, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Mattie (Cox) Smith. Mrs. Shreve was a homemaker, seamstress, owner of Sonja's Upholstery and a certified nursing assistant, having worked at Cuppett and Weeks Nursing Home and Rose Terrace Assisted Living. She is survived by her husband, William Leon Shreve, Sr.; three daughters, Renee Shreve, Tina Rodeheaver, and Tonya Hopkins and fiancAC. Sgt. Hans Moeller, II (Ft. Bragg, NC) all of Oakland; two sons, William Leon Shreve, Jr. and wife Patricia, and Terry Lee Shreve and wife Gillian, all of Oakland; one brother, Walter Smith, Jr. and wife Linda of French Lick, IN; one sister, Pat Standley of French Lick, IN; eight grandchildren, Sean Buckle, Joanne Buckle, Clare Buckle, Antony Shreve, Katie Shreve, Stephanie Shreve, Zackery Shreve, and Savannah Rodeheaver; and numerous nephews and nieces, including special niece Judie Gudger of Birdseye, IN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Audrey Aline Baker, Pearl Painter, Doloris Lunsford, Roberta Bruner, Flo Smith and Geraldine Seigrist; and one brother, Henry Smith. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, June 21st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, June 22nd at 10 AM with Rev. Ivan Ackerman officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
