Shirley Savage

Shirley Ruth Savage, 84, of Oakland, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at her residence.  Born on November 16, 1933 in Somerset, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jonas and Florence (Paxton) Peck.  Shirley was a graduate of Oakland High School.  She was employed as a bookkeeper at Browning’s Foodland and later near retirement she and Clifford were the proprietors of Rosedale Greenhouse.  Shirley loved gardening, traveling and puzzles.  In the last few months of her life, she enjoyed watching Family Feud and Judge Judy on television.  Shirley was so proud of her family.  “She loved her family so much just ask anyone in Oakland who spent hours listening to her talk about her kids and grandkids.”  Shirley is survived by two daughters, Brenda Gnegy and husband Stephen and Lisa Kinney and husband Keven, all of Oakland; three granddaughters, Hannah Upole and husband Douglas of Cookeville, TN, Carinna Lewis Kinney of Orlando, FL and Alanna Kinney of Oakland; two sisters, Mary Peck, Donna Lantz and husband Dave; a brother, John Peck and wife Terri; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; a constant companion and faithful friend, her dog, Rooney.  In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Lee Savage; a brother, Jonas Peck; and two sisters, Margaret Madigan and Betty McCrobie.  Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 10-12 PM at which time a memorial service will be held with Pastor Duane Frederick officiating.  Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens at a later date.  Shirley’s family would like to thank Cindi Green, Mary Bernard and Charlene Copeland for the wonderful care given to their mother.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550 or to Cindy’s Fund, PO Box 182, Oakland, MD 21550.  www.csfredlockfh.com
