Shirley Bowman

Shirley A. Bowman, age 81, of Crellin, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Dennett Road Manor. Born on April 19, 1939 in Crellin, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Julie Shaffer. Shirley was a graduate of Southern High School and was employed by First United Bank and Trust as a switchboard operator. She was actively involved in church life at Crellin United Brethern In Christ. Shirley sang in the choir and also volunteered to perform administrative duties for Sunday School. Shirley loved family gatherings, traveling, shopping with the girls and seeing her friends at the McWrinkle Club for coffee.

Shirley is survived by her husband, William C. Bowman, whom she married on June 2, 1957; a son, Rodger Bowman and wife Catherine of Terra Alta; a daughter, Teresa Morgan and husband Bobby of Oakland; grandchildren, Ryan and Nicki Ruppenthal of Parkersburg, Mike and Reggan Taylor of Elkins, Robert William and Jessica Morgan of Oakland; great grandchildren, Mikell and Andrew Miller, Tyler Hershman, Cassidy and Gavin Fury, Madison Ruppenthal; great-great grandson, Benton Miller; siblings, Bonnie Jean Winters and husband Neil; a sister-in-law, Helen Shaffer; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Donald Shaffer.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Monday, June 29, 2020 from 3-7 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 11 AM with Pastor Ed Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow immediately in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. For safety, we kindly encourage all in attendance to wear a face covering, practice social distancing, and If you are sick, stay home and visit with the family in the future.
