Sheila Hamner

February 9, 1948 — March 15, 2015

Sheila Jean Bennett Hamner, 67, of Thomas, WV, departed this life Sunday March 15, 2015.  Death was sudden and unexpected.

She was born on Feb, 9, 1948 in Vintondale, PA, a daughter of the late Donald Vaughn Bennett and Hazel Louella Edwards Bennett.

On February 20, 1969, in Oakland, MD, she was married to Russell L. (Boz) Hamner who preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Tracy Lynn Hamner and companion Shawn Bonner of Davis, WV.  One brother, James (Jay) L. Bennett and wife Carol, of Homer City, PA.  One sister, Patricia (Trish) G. Bennett Veltre of Strongstown, PA. Also surviving are three step-children, Patty Harman and husband Jim of Yulee, FL, Pam Shepard of Newport News, VA, and  Steve Hamner and wife Karen of Bel Alton, MD.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sheila was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Vaughn Bennett and Roger Lyle Bennett, one step son, Michael Hamner, and one grandson, Matthew Jennings.

She had eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Sheila formally cleaned Ed Kepner's house for many years.  Sheila was currently employed at the Tallyho Lodge as a cleaning lady prior to death.  She was an active member of the Eagles Lady Auxiliary 936, of Davis, WV.  In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Eagles Lady Auxiliary 936, of Davis, WV.

She looked forward to the 4th of July every year, because that meant a big family get together.  Even though she rarely watched the fireworks, she was still there taking care of one of the little ones who didn't like the fireworks as much and would take them inside.  It just made her day when the 4th was near.  She would start baking days before hand.  There was always so much food and she was known for her baking skills.  All the family would look forward to her pepperoni rolls every year.
