Sharon Kay (Ahern) Fulk, 61, formerly of Oakland, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Thomas Memorial Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia. Born on March 21, 1955, she was a daughter of the late Charles Ahern and the late Carrie (Murphy) Benson, Oakland. Sharon worked for many years as a paralegal in Oakland and later created and sold silk flower arrangements at the Mountain Fresh Farmer's Market downtown. She loved traveling, reading, baking and spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Victoria Matthews and husband Philip, Holiday, Florida; grandchildren, Megan and Seth Matthews, Holiday, Florida; two sisters Cathy Helbig, Southport, North Carolina, and Rebecca Baird, Crofton, Maryland; two brothers, Charly Ahern, Accident, and Michael Ahern, Indian Head; a special friend, Merle Weeks, Deer Park; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Jackson Helbig, and by her stepfather, Dan Benson. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
