Selma Moreland

Selma Francis (Jordan) Moreland, 92, of Oakland died on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home in Oakland. Born on August 21, 1920 in Kempton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Harrison and Effie Catherine (Kelley) Jordan. Selma's beautiful flower gardens were her passion and what she loved spending her time doing. She was a homemaker who loved to bake and provide food for others. Her love for her family was always seen on her face and in her heart. Selma gave love and she was loved. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to everyone she met. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Ragione and husband Frank of Arnold and Bonnie Zimmeran of Oakland; three sons, Elmer Moreland and wife Jane, Royce Moreland and wife Vonda, and Allen Moreland and wife Kimberly, all of Oakland; one daughter-in-law, Pamela Moreland of Petersburg, WV; one step-son, Roy Moreland, Jr. of Baltimore; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and many other beloved relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy George Moreland; three sons, Jeffery Earle Moreland, David Reed Moreland and John Joseph Moreland; a brother, Reed Jordan; two sisters, Faye Bolyard and Ruby Merle Blizzard; and a great great granddaughter, Madison. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Wednesday, February 27th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, February 28th at 10 AM with Pastor Ben Lahay officiating. Interment will follow in Moreland Cemetery.
