Sarah Pierson

Sarah Ezell McLendon Pierson, born December 2, 1925, died peacefully at home with her family in Davis, WV, on June 23, 2011.
Born in Atlanta, GA, Sarah grew up with nine brothers and sisters and fondly remembered riding horses and picking peaches and pecans on her childhood farm. She married John Story Pierson on June 2, 1950 and moved to Miami Springs, FL, where she resided for 51 years. In 2001, she moved to Davis, WV, to be with her daughter Susan. Sarah loved games of chance, fishing, crafts, good jokes, all kinds of sweets, and cardinals. She always told her loved ones that we were her lucky charms, but we all knew it was she who brought us luck. She was an original, and we miss her. Sarah is survived by her sister, Marie (Tom) Lockhart of Atlanta, GA; her children, Martha Jane Pierson of Miami, FL, Susan Moore of Davis, WV, and John (Debra) Pierson of Miami Springs, FL; her granddaughter, Catherine Venable Moore of Beckwith, WV; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service and lunch will be held at Mountain Top Senior Center in Thomas, WV, at 11AM on Monday, June 27th.
