Samuel Glotfelty

Samuel Roy Glotfelty, 77, of Aurora, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on March 22, 1942 in McHenry, he was the son of the late Paul and Ethel Glotfelty. Sam was a graduate of Southern High School. He was a standout baseball player from little league throughout his high school career and in the Pen Mar Baseball League. Staff Sargent Glotfelty proudly served in the United States Army from 1959-1973. Sam developed a strong work ethic at a young age; working on the family dairy farm and logging in the woods. He worked for Garber Construction for 20 years before starting his own business, G & G Excavating which he operated from 1978-2007. Sam enjoyed playing and watching baseball and football. He had a terrific sense of humor and was known to be a big joker. Sam is survived by his bride of 30 years, Patty (Casteel) Glotfelty; three children, Lanita Neely and husband Rodney of Gerrardstown, WV, Rebecca Stemple and husband Brent of Oakland, David Sines and wife Becky of Oakland; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Neely, Erin Neely, Shalyn Stemple and Brandon Cosner, Delaney Stemple, Matthew Stemple and Jessica Snyder, Mariah Sines and Aaron McKenzie, Jeremiah Sines, Christopher Sines; great grandchildren, Jaxson Cosner and Samuel Stemple; siblings, Rob Glotfelty, Barbara Meyers, Wanda Riley and husband Dennis, all of Oakland. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by two brothers, Curt and Roger Glotfelty. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 3-7 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Crellin United Brethren in Christ Church on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 11AM with Pastor Ed Calhoun officiating. Interment with military honors will be held in Garrett County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to Sam's daughter, Lanita Neely to defray funeral expenses or donations may be made at Wepco to the account "In Memory of Samuel Glotfelty."
