Russell Junkins

October 4, 1925 — February 23, 2011

Russell Earl Junkins, 85 of Heartland of Keyser, formerly of Sulphur, WV, passed away Wednesday, February 23,2011 at Potomac Valley Hospital.

Born October 4, 1925 in Sulpher, WV, he was the son of the late Oliver Russell and Stella (Mackley) Junkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy E. (Haines) Junkins.

Earl was a veteran having served in the United States Army in WWII in the Philippians. He was a retired Inspector for the United States Government Soil Conservationist Services, member of the Sulpher United Methodist Church and Farm Bureau.

Surviving are: One son-Ronald R. Junkins and wife Betty Lynn, Hartmansville, WV; two stepsons-Paul D. Howdyshell , Jr. and wife Wilma (Jean), Shallmar, MD, Michael D. Howdyshell and wife JoAnn-San Antonio, TX; one sister-Rosalie Staggs and husband Ervin (Dutch), Keyser, WV; one granddaughter-Brittney Junkins; two step-grandsons Ronald D. Howdyshell and Paul D. Howdyshell III; two step granddaughters Amy J. Zoch and Sara E. Howdyshell. And several step great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church Street, Kitzmiller, MD, February 25, 2011 at 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel, February 26 , 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kevin Staggs officiating.

Interment will be in the Kalbaugh Cemetery. Military services will be accorded at graveside.
