Russell Alexander

December 11, 1956 — July 7, 2024

Oakland

Russell Broze Alexander, Jr., 67, of Oakland, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at his home. Born on December 11, 1956, in Oakland, MD, he was the son of the late Russell Broze Alexander Sr. and Daisy Jean (Paugh) Alexander.

Russ attended Southern High School and graduated in 1974. He was a jack of all trades who knew a little bit about a lot and was always happy to share his knowledge with anyone. Throughout his life, he earned his living through various fields including contract work with his father, the Department of Natural Resources Conservation Corp, teaching carpentry at Garrett Community College and eventually retiring from Westvaco Paper Mill. He enjoyed spending his time staying busy outside and working around the house. You would be more likely to find him outside in the sun instead of inside on the couch. Whether it was a one-man job or should have required a whole team, he found a way to accomplish his tasks by himself in his own way. He enjoyed working in his yard, feeding his birds, helping his kids, and relaxing outside with his dogs. He was a true nature lover and animal lover.

Russ is survived by his loving children, Autumn Sanders and husband Brent, Rusty Alexander III and girlfriend Becca O’Brien, and Wesley Alexander, all of Oakland; sisters, Mary Adams and husband Bill of Jefferson, Ohio, Sharon Rinker and husband John of Oakland, MD, Paula Gauntner and husband Dennis of Madison, Ohio; and numerous extended family members who were all very important to him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, learned from him, and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Cynthia Kay (Beebe) Alexander, and his sister Linda Klacik.

Mr. Alexander's wishes to be cremated was honored, and a private memorial will be held for family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Maryland State Parks at P.O. Box 3284, Ocean City, MD 21843.

The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland, is honored to be serving the Alexander family at this time.
