Russel H. Bowser, 90 of Oakland, passed away on July 8, 2012 at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on October 5, 1921 in Ford City, PA. Russel was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. He retired from Pitt Auto Parts as a salesman. Russel was a fifty year member of the Oakland Lodge #192 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, Shirers, Syria Ambassors and American Legion, Proctor Kildow Post #71, Oakland, MD. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Jane (Walley) Bowser in 2010. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St, Oakland, on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Bobby Holcomb officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the combined American Legion, Proctor Kildow Post #71 and VFW, Post #10077. Because of Russel's love of reading, the family requests memorials be made to the Ruth Enlow Library, 6 N. 2nd St., Oakland, MD 21550.
