Ruby Lee Sylvester, 92, of Oakland and formerly of Winter Haven, FL, died on Friday, December 30, 2016, at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on September 15, 1924 in Statesboro, GA, she was the daughter of the late Richard E., Sr. and Mamie (Brannen) Key. She had worked as a key punch operator for a number of years in for Kiel Lock in Fitchburg, MA; later she worked for and retired from TDEC in Oakland. Ruby was an avid bridge player who also enjoyed golfing and collecting dolls. She had returned to Oakland in 2010 after living for over twenty years in Florida. Ruby is survived by two daughters, Heidi Ann Kern and husband Charles of Oakland and Leigh Pamela "Pam" Graham of Garden City, GA; two grandchildren, Julie Anne Kreyenbuhl and James David Kreyenbuhl; two great grandchildren, Zoe Simone and James Alexander Kreyenbuhl; a stepdaughter, Dona Hewitt and husband Steve; two stepsons, Jerry Stoneburner and wife Carolyn and Russell Stoneburner; stepdaughter in law, Carol Stoneburner; one sister, Vertie Mae Powell of GA; two brothers, Harold Key of FL and Richard E. Key, Jr. of NE; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Gilman H. Sylvester and William L. Stoneburner, Sr.; two brothers, Calvin "Bud" Key and Lonnie Key; and a stepson, William L. Stoneburner, Jr. According to her wishes, Ruby was cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Dennett Road Manor Activities Dept., 1113 Mary Dr., Oakland, MD 21550.
