Ruby Gwendolyn (Evans) Skinner, 87, of Mt. Lake Park, died on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Dennett Road Manor. Born on July 23, 1928 in Horseshoe Run, WV, Ruby is the daughter of the late Wilbur O. and Bessie F. (Winters) Evans. She was a graduate of Aurora High School, class of 1946. Ruby retired from her position as a sales clerk at Walgreens in the Pentagon after working there for 35 years. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, American Legion Proctor Kildow Post #71 Ladies Auxiliary and a volunteer for Hospice of Garrett County. She loved spending time with the love of her life, her husband, William who she married on February 4, 1961. She was a quiet spirit who valued intelligence and honesty. She was known to be the most honest person her husband ever met. Ruby is survived by her husband of 55 years, William F. Skinner; a sister, Nina Wallace of Auburn, AL; a brother, Wayne Evans of Oakland; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven siblings. In accordance with Ruby's wishes, she will be cremated. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 10-11:00 AM at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 6 South Second Street, Oakland at which time a memorial service will be held with Rev. Dr. C. Scott Robinson officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland. Memorial contributions in honor of Ruby may be made to the Dennett Road Manor Activities Department, 1113 Mary Drive, Oakland, MD 21550.
