Rosemary Filsinger, 83, of Deer Park died on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, with her family present. God decided it was time to bring her home and her family is very thankful that she will no longer suffer pain from cancer. She was born on December 12, 1932 in Deer Park, the daughter of the late Charles Theodore and Flora (Chadderton) Haines. She was a member of the Deer Park United Methodist Church and a member of the Deer Park Homemakers. Rosemary's greatest love was her family. Time spent with them was her greatest joy. She also treasured her friends, especially those she would see when she would go to the Swanton Community Center for Senior Citizen meals. She enjoyed watching old-time westerns with her son, Mike, and when she would ask him the name of the leading actor in the movie, Mike would always tease her and tell her it was John Wayne, regardless of who the actor really was. When her grandson, Tommy, was little she became his babysitter but it wasn't very long before he moved in and she was no longer his grandmother but his mother. She is survived by one son, Charles Michael "Mike" Filsinger and wife Lona of Swanton; three daughters, Mary Ann Butler and husband Sam of Oakland, Susan D. Virts and husband Don of Oakland and Nancy L. Filsinger of Deer Park; four grandchildren, Stephanie Filsinger and fiance Thomas George of Oakland, Lorrie Filsinger-Miller and husband Jason of Swanton, Carrie Filsinger-Matlick and husband Matthew of Swanton and Thomas D. Sharpless and wife Amy of Terra Alta; great grandchildren, Jarrett, Jett, Jaxxton and Jaggar Miller, Mylan and Mia Matlick, and Maxxwel and Leela Sharpless; three brothers, Charles "Bill" Haines of Deer Park, John Haines and wife Dortha of Kingwood, WV and James "Jim" Haines and wife Drenda of Cumberland; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Michael "Mick" Filsinger, in 2010. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Saturday, April 23rd from 1 to 4 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Deer Park United Methodist Church on Sunday, April 24th at 2 PM with Pastor Barbara Rexroad and Rev. John Reardon officiating. Interment will follow in the Deer Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Deer Park United Methodist Church, 81 Church St., Deer Park, MD 21550 or The Dove Center, 882 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD 21550.
