Rose Marie Mullenax, 88, of Horse Shoe Run, WV passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Born December 6, 1934, in Erwin, WV, she was the daughter of the late Rose Ann Bohon.
She married Roy William Mullenax on April 25, 1953. Together they celebrated nearly 69 years of marriage. In previous years, Marie was employed by Sterling Processing Plant and also did Adult Family Care in her home for over 35 years. She was a caregiver to a very special friend, Gertrude Stemple. Marie spent countless hours serving her community as a member of the Aurora Ladies Auxiliary and volunteering at the Mt. Grove Volunteer Fire Department. She also loved to cook and bake for many family functions and enjoyed bird watching and tending to her flower gardens.
She is survived by three daughters, Lona Filsinger of Swanton, MD, Debra Wagner and husband Larry, and Trish Rumer and husband Dave, both of Oakland, MD; a son, Roy Wayne Mullenax and wife Melissa of Horse Shoe Run, WV; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Filsinger, Lorrie Miller, Carrie Matlick, Leslie Swiger, Brandon and Joshua Peck, Phillip Rumer, Heather and Kelsey Mullenax; twelve great grandchildren, Taylor and Evan Swiger, Jarrett, Jett, Jaxxton and Jaggar Miller, Rebecca and Rachel Peck, Liam and Kinsley Rumer, and Mylan and Mia Matlick; a sister, Della Moats of Kingwood, WV; a sister-in-law, Jean Toothman of Shinston, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy William Mullenax; a daughter, Janet Lea Gillespie; a grandson, Trinity Scott Gillespie; a great grandson, Rylee David Mullenax Friend; a son-in-law, Charles Michael Filsinger; and a brother, Vernon Ray Bohon.
A special thank you for the wonderful care given from her daughter-in-law, Melissa, who Marie was quick to say, "She is my right arm and left arm also."
Friends will be received on Monday, May 1, 2023, from 4 to 8 PM at the Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, 567 Thomas Ave, Davis, and on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 10 to 11 AM at Bethel Texas United Methodist Church where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM with Rev. Debbie Strawser officiating. Interment will follow in the Texas Cemetery.
