Rose Harsh

April 21, 1929 — April 21, 2017

Rose Ina Lovenina (Beckman) Harsh, 88, of Eglon, died on Friday, April 21, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on April 21, 1929 in Oakland, Rose Ina was the daughter of the late Osborne Stanley and Ina Eleanora (Paugh) Beckman. Rose Ina was born with a spirit of "service before self." As a teen who was too young to join the military to become a nurse, she helped the World War II effort by rolling and packing bandages to be sent overseas and by writing letters to her brothers and other soldiers serving abroad. As a mother and wife, she loved and cared for her family while living and working on the family farm. In her community, she was recognized as a leader through her service as a paramedic and EMT with the Union Ambulance and also through her work at the Preston Taylor Clinic for 39 years. She was a devoted member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren where she served her Lord through assuming various roles in the church . One of her last and possibly one of her greatest gifts was the gift of tissue donation. Rose Ina was an organ donor registered with the Center for Organ Recovery and Education. Her heart, diaphragm and other connective tissue donation will be used in cadaveric training and research for K9 search and rescue teams to help find missing persons. She was an inspiration to her family and her community. She will be remembered for saying," God is so good to me and I am so blessed." Rose Ina will be truly missed. Rose Ina is survived by her children, Neva Frantz and husband Donald, Stanley Harsh and wife Leah, Brenda Hartsell and husband Claud, Mark Harsh and wife Jennifer, all of Eglon; grandchildren, Donnie and Melvin Frantz, Melissa Skiles, Melvin and James Harsh, Carroll Joe and Allen Hartsell, Michelle and Tyler Harsh; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Donavin, Dokata, Violet and Harmony Frantz, Alex, Christopher and Levi Skiles, Braxton, Hallie, Logan and Clayten Hartsell; and a soon-to- be born great grand daughter, Morgan Rose Hartsell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Roy Harsh; a granddaughter, Heather Dawn Hartsell; and great grandson, Homer Jack Hartsell; two brothers, Robert and Oliver Beckman; two nephews, Frank and James Beckman; and three children and five great grandchildren that went on to be angels prior to birth. Friends will be received at the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren in Eglon, WV on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 1-8 PM and again on Tuesday, April 25 from 10-11 AM at which time a funeral service will be held with Rev. Gary Meeks officiating. Interment will follow in the Eglon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rose Ina's hospice care provider, West Virginia Caring, PO Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520 or to the Center for Organ Recovery and Education, 204 Sigma Drive, RIDC Park, Pittsburgh, PA 15238 or at www.core.org. Arrangements have been entrusted to the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., Oakland, MD. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.csfredlockfh.com.
