Ronald Michaels

Ronald Franklin Michaels, 74, of Mtn. Lake Park died on Wednesday, January 7, 2014 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland. Born on February 23, 1940 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John H. and Edna Mae (Cline) Michaels. He was a graduate of Southern High School and had been employed by the Garrett County Board of Education as a custodian. He was a member of the Walnut Bottom Assembly of God and had also attended Hi-Way Assembly of God and the New Hope Church. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, watching sports on TV and attending church gatherings. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Opal L. (Paugh) Michaels; a daughter, Brenda L. Michaels of Mtn. Lake Park; grandchildren, Kristi A. Rhodes and husband John of Loch Lynn and Chad Few of Mtn. Lake Park; great-grandchildren, Keyara Rhodes, Kyle Rhodes, Alayna Rhodes and Scarlette Lloyd; two sisters, Sandra Kisner and husband Roger and Linda Griffin and husband John; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Jack and John Michaels; and five sisters, Glendine McCrobie, Maxine McCrobie, Arveta McCrum, Jean Friend and Mary Mallow. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, January 9th from 5 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Walnut Bottom Assembly of God on Saturday, January 10th at 1 PM with Pastor George H. Tichinel and Pastor John Friend officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Bottom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad, PO Box 378, Oakland, MD 21550.
