Roger D. Lueck, 80, of Oakland died on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital. Born on November 10, 1932 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late William and Lucy (Hite) Lueck. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was a civil engineer for the Environmental Protection Agency. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and had won various awards for his work with the EPA. Also, he was a volunteer at the Discovery Center at Deep Creek Lake, as well as a volunteer with Therapy Dogs International. Roger will be remembered as a man who loved to laugh and swap stories with his many friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and always had a dog nearby. He was an avid photographer and bonsai gardener who enjoyed traveling. As a younger man, he loved skiing and camping, and in later years, looked forward to visiting with his children and grandchildren in Davidsonville and Scotland. He is survived by his wife, Odette H. (Kingsley) Lueck; children, Brock Lueck and Paige Havens; grandchildren, Molly and Annie Lueck and Taylor and Jack Havens; and a brother, Jim Lueck of LaVale. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 21st at 11 AM in St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Oakland with Msgr. Paul Byrnes as celebrant and Rev. Dr. Chip Lee co-officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HART for Animals, 24457 Garrett Hwy., McHenry, MD 21541. The Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home P.A., Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
