Roger Alexander

Roger Lee "Skio" Alexander, 71, of Oakland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at his home. Born on August 29, 1943 in Turner Douglass, WV, he was the son of the late Luther and Maxine (Reckart) Alexander. He was a 1963 graduate of Terra Alta High School. He worked as a heavy machine operator for several years prior to working for Glotfelty Lumber, from which he retired after 40 years of service. In addition to spending time with his family, Skio enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dottie Alexander; two sons, Bradley Alexander and wife Nicole of Oakland and Jason Alexander and wife Rhonda of Terra Alta, WV; grandchildren, Brandon, Mia, Shelby, Isabella, Brady, Bryson, Wyatt and Abiella; brothers, Larry Alexander and wife Violet of Corinth, WV, James Alexander and Roselee of Oakland, Ernest Alexander of Oakland, Kenny Alexander and wife Janet of Oakland, Jerry Alexander and wife Brenda of Terra Alta, and Terry Alexander and wife Missy of Oakland; and a sister, Phyllis McRobie of Oakland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Lewis and a brother, Wayne Alexander. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Sunday, October 19th from 1 to 2 PM after which time a memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad, PO Box 378, Oakland, MD 21550.
