Robert "Bob" Young, Sr.

Robert "Bob" Jason Young, Sr., 75, of Thomas, WV, passed away March 5, 2022, at Garrett Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born April 6, 1946, in New Martinsville, WV, a son to the late Ralph Parker and Ida Mae (Quinn) Young.

Bob was a life-long welder working for various fabrication shops for mining equipment. He started working at Alpine mines and continued his career through various companies such as, Metal Craft Engineering, Standard Service, Fairfax Machine and Fabrication and Consumat Fabrication. He retired from his welding career and went to work for Canaan Valley Golf Course. Bob was a jack-of-all trades, from building houses, rebuilding cars and raising cattle. He was a hard worker and took pride in taking care of his family.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 58 years, Sue Shupp Young, whom he married on August 22, 1964. Also surviving are two children, Donna (Wally) Young-Hebb and Robert "Moe" (Theresa) Young; three grandchildren, Tiffany (Josh) Hebb-Ward, Robert "Jason" Young II and Tyler L. (Danielle) Hebb; one great-granddaughter, Evelyn Ward.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Bob was cherished and loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

Friends will be received at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, Wednesday, March 9, 2022, from 4 to 7 pm. A funeral service will be held, 11:00 am, Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the funeral home with Pastor John Callaway officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Young family at this time.
