Roberta Lynne (Vieweg) Rhodes, 50, of Swanton went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2012, after a long battle with leukemia. Mrs. Rhodes (known to her family and friends as Bobbie) was born on March 4, 1962, in Morgantown, WV.
Bobbie is well known in Garrett County as a substitute teacher with a passion for her students. An active member of Faith Evangelical Free Church (Faith EFC), Bobbie was often seen assisting with the youth group and various committees and boards. Many will remember her dancing at Jazzercise and enjoying long, fast walks with friends. Bobbie lived life to the fullest, which included pursuing Christ with all of her heart.
Bobbie was a graduate of the Mount de Chantal Visitation Academy of Wheeling, WV, and of West Virginia University of Morgantown, WV, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. While attending WVU, Bobbie was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority as well as Campus Crusade for Christ International.
She is survived by her immediate family consisting of her husband of 27 years, Lance E. Rhodes, their daughter and son-in-law Erin A. (Rhodes) Petersen and Brad R. Petersen, of Delaware, OH; and son Curtis E. Rhodes (Rett) of Swanton. Bobbie's surviving family also includes her father and stepmother George B. Vieweg III and Lou Henri Vieweg of Charleston, WV; mother and stepfather Jane C. McCamic and Jeremy C. McCamic of Wheeling, WV; brother and sister-in-law George B. Vieweg IV and Brenda K. Vieweg of Greer, SC; and sister Gwendolyn J. Vieweg of Morgantown, WV. Additional family and friends across the United States are too numerous to mention but are remembered in our hearts.
A celebration of her life will be held at Faith EFC, Mt. Lake Park, on Saturday, September 15th, 2012 at 2pm. Doors will be open to all at 12:30pm to visit with the family.
Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland, MD, is in charge of arrangements. Inquires for more information may be directed to the immediate family.
As Bobbie had a great love for the body of Christ at Faith EFC, especially the youth, donations in Bobbie's memory may be made to: Faith EFC Youth Group or Faith EFC Building Fund (please specify in the memo line of the check) and mailed to Faith EFC, 1009 Maryland Highway, Mt. Lake Park, MD 21550.
Her family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support throughout Bobbie's battle. These prayers provide an avenue for God to continue to demonstrate His mercy to them.
Bobbie's will be greatly missed as she lived her life by continually giving to her family, friends, and community. She is a modern example of "The Proverbs 31 Lady."
