Robert A. "Chum" Tasker, 89, of Oakland went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 9, 2014 in Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born on October 4, 1924 in Deer Park, he was the son of the late George W. and Gracie B. (Hanline) Tasker. Chum retired as a coal miner from Island Creek Coal Company. He was an active member of the United Mine Workers Local 1444. After retirement, he enjoyed hunting, auto repair, excavating and growing a hearty garden each year. He is survived by his sons, Bob Tasker and wife Edith of Oakland and Delmas Tasker and wife Barbara of Grantsville; a daughter, Sandra Jemison and husband Tom of Nixa, MO; a daughter in law, Doris Tasker of Oakland; six grandchildren, Bobby Tasker and Kathy Stewart of Aurora, WV, Melanie Tasker-Sanders and husband Brent of Oakland, Maria Friend and husband Terry of Wasilla, AK, Mark Tasker and wife Laura of Morgantown, WV, Scott Jemison and Sara Jemison of Nixa, MO; two step grandchildren, Wendy Miller of Oakland and Melanie Miller of Terra Alta, WV; five great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one great great grandson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Maxine Louise (Cooper) Tasker; a son, Timothy Tasker; and a brother, Vernard Tasker. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Tuesday, February 11th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and on Wednesday, February 12th from 10 to 11 AM at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating. Interment will be in the Potomac Camp Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deer Park United Methodist Church, New Roof Fund, 205 Seneca Ave, Mt. Lake Park, MD 21550
